AUDITIONS
SCT
Announces Auditions for the first show of their 50th Anniversary
Season:

About
Auditions (Where do I go? What do I do?)
Ø
When are
auditions? Where do I go?
Auditions
are Monday, Aug. 10 and Tuesday, Aug. 11 at the SCT Playhouse located one block
off Grand Avenue in downtown Spencer: 518 1st Ave. E.
Auditions begin promptly at 7 p.m.; please allow a little extra time to
fill out the audition form (theatre will be opened at 6:30 p.m.).
Please note that it is not necessary to attend both evenings of
auditions; one or the other will suffice.
Ø
What do I do
if I can’t make the audition?
If
you want to audition but aren’t available during audition times, please
contact Director Shaley Cullen (contact info below) or SCT Artistic Director
Cara Gerlock to schedule an alternate time.
Ø
What do I need
to bring with me? Should I prepare
anything in advance?
No
need to prepare anything in advance unless you want to, but you may find it
helpful to look over the script ahead of time.
You’re welcome to check out the script beforehand- they’re available
at the Playhouse between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Ø
When are
rehearsals?
Rehearsals
run Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 (with
occasional rehearsals on Wednesday evenings).
Rehearsals begin Aug. 16 and run until the show opens on Oct. 14.
THERE ARE NO REHEARSALS DURING THE CLAY COUNTY FAIR WEEK!
Amount of rehearsal time depends on the size of role.
Ø
What’s this
show all about?
At the turn of the century in Indian
Territory, a young ranch hand, Curly, is infatuated with Laurey. Unfortunately,
they are both too proud to admit they love each other. Just to spite Curly,
Laurey accepts an invitation to the local dance from the evil Jud Fry.
Meanwhile, Will Parker has returned early from his trip to Kansas City.
Unfortunately, his girlfriend, Ado Annie, just can't seem to say no to other
men. Eventually, Curly and Jud duel it out, with Jud ending up falling on his
own knife and dying. In the end, Curly and Laurey are married. Likewise, Will
and Ado Annie tie the knot, and all is well.
Ø
When are
performances?
“Oklahoma”
has a five-performance, one week run. Performances
are Oct. 14-18 and will be held at the Clay County Regional Events Center.

and culture, find your calling, impress your beau (to name a few)!
Ø
SCT is looking to nurture
old relationships- people who’ve been involved in the past- as well as
cultivate new ones. Whether
you’re a seasoned actor or someone who’s always wanted to be involved in the
theatre but haven’t done it yet, there is a place for you at SCT!
What if I still have more questions or want to talk
to someone about auditioning?
No problem! Feel
free to contact Director Shaley Cullen or SCT Artistic Director Cara Gerlock.
