Thank you for your interest in donating theatrical
costumes to the SCT Costume Shop. With an inventory of over
30,000 costumes, we know that it takes a lot of space and work to
store and care for costume inventory. When cleaning out your
costume inventory, keep the SCT Costume Shop in mind.
Why Donate to SCT?
As a 501 (c)(3) organization, donations to SCT by
companies or individuals are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by
law.
If you are a part of a non-profit organization or a
community school, we offer rental credits in exchange for donated
costumes. For each costume you donate, you would receive
credit equal to a rental of a comparable costume. Donation
credits do not expire, and can be used for any future production!
What do we do with all of
these costumes?
For over 30 years, it has been a part of our mission
to supply quality costumes at an affordable price to organizations
and schools across the country. In order to keep our costs
down so that we can offer affordable rental rates, we rely on
donations of costumes and other goods (such as fabrics and
equipment).
How can my organization
donate to SCT?
Email us for information on how to
donate. We
can send you our Tax Exempt Identification Number, a copy of our
501(c)(3) letter, and a receipt for you to fill out before shipping
if you wish. If you are a non-profit or school we can speak
with you about rental credits.
Costumes can be shipped to our location at 518 1st Ave East,
Spencer, IA 51301. For donations of professionally built costumes,
we offer easy shipping or pick up options we would be happy to
discuss with you.
After we receive your donation we will process a
formal receipt.
How does SCT's service
impact our customers?
Here's a quote from one of our regular customers:
"SCT Costume Shop is an asset to the arts in secondary school.
Without the staff's quick and diligent services, I would not have
the budget or time to expose my actors to a quality production.
Bravo!". We recently worked with a small school that had
never been able to afford rented costumes before using our service
this year. The middle school students told their teacher it
was "like being on Broadway" when the costume shipment
arrived.
That's why we do what we do. As a part of a
community theatre, we love non-profit arts organizations and school
drama programs. We feel their impact on people's lives and
their community is priceless. We hope that our service helps
them to put on a quality product at a price they can afford.
