Internships Available at Spencer Community Theatre
Program Statement:
Spencer Community Theatre’s Internship Program is designed to train the next generation of theatre artists in the skills necessary to become a successful member of the theatre community, as well as to foster the appreciation of “community theatre”: theatre for all. We offer practical hands-on experience tailored to suit the needs of our interns in order to provide a unique, individualized experience. While immersed in the world of Community and Children’s Theatre, our interns gain experience and knowledge to become well-rounded theatre practitioners.
Internships Available:
Music Director & Education Intern
Seeking Music Director Intern to direct all music for summer
Children’s Theatre productions, camps, and classes. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting the
operations of the musical portion of productions, production planning with Play
Director and Choreographer, teaching classes in musical theatre and other areas
of expertise, preparing for and running all aspects of vocal and instrumental
music, and directing all musicians during performances.
Students studying theatre or music are encouraged to apply.
Internship begins mid- May and runs through mid-August.
All interns receive a small stipend and cooperation for college credit
(pending approval from intern’s college or university).
Interns will need excellent communication, organization, and writing
skills as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
The internship is 35 hours per week.
Children’s Theatre Director and Education Intern
Seeking Children’s Theatre Director and Education Intern to
direct Children’s Theatre production of “Sleeping Beauty:
Kids,” to assist in developing and implementing children’s theatre
educational classes and workshops, and to lead the Theatre Production Camp.
Interns will be directing frequently, as well as teaching skills such as
acting, voice, creative dramatics, movement for the theatre, improvisation, and
other theatre related skills. Students
studying theatre and/ or education encouraged to apply. Internship runs late May through mid- August.
All interns receive a small stipend and cooperation for college credit
(pending approval from intern’s college or university).
Interns will need excellent communication, organization, and writing
skills as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
